Share a badge on your LinkedIn profile
There are two ways you can share badges to LinkedIn; either as a post to your LinkedIn Feed or to the Certifications section of your profile.
Before you get started with sharing your badge on LinkedIn, make sure you have your badge image and badge URL ready (follow the instructions in the first tutorial).
Adding badges to your LinkedIn Certifications
You can share your badges under the ‘Licenses & Certifications’ section on your LinkedIn profile.
This ensures that the badge is a permanent, verifiable part of your personal LinkedIn profile.
Adding badges to the ‘Licenses & Certifications’ section requires some manual entry of the badge information.
STEP 1: Sign in to LinkedIn and go to your profile page
Sign in to LinkedIn and go to your profile page.
STEP 2: Add the badge to your profile page
On your profile page, click on the ‘Add profile section’ button.
Or you can scroll down to your existing ‘Licenses & certifications’ section and click the ‘+’ sign at the upper right of the section.
Select ‘Add licenses and certifications’ under ‘Recommended’ in the pop-up window.
STEP 3: Badge information
A new dialogue box will open prompting you to enter information about your badge:
- Name: Enter the title of the badge. You can copy this from the FAO elearning Academy page detailing the badge information.
- Issuing Organization: Type ‘FAO’ in the “Issuing Organization” and select the organization from the dropdown.
- Make sure the ‘This credential does not expire’ box is checked.
- Issue Date: Enter the date from the FAO elearning Academy page detailing the badge information.
- Credential URL: Paste the badge URL that you copied in the first tutorial.
Click ‘Save’.
STEP 4: Verify the credential
You can now see the badge displayed on your profile under ‘Licences and certifications’.
The FAO logo will appear instead of the badge image - the LinkedIn platform determines this behaviour.
Click on ‘See Credential’ to link back to the FAO elearning Academy page detailing the badge information. Anyone who clicks on this link will be able to review and verify your badge.
Sharing a badge to your LinkedIn Feed
If you would like to showcase your badge to your LinkedIn connections, posting a badge on your newsfeed is a good option.
Remember that the newsfeed post will become less visible as time goes by. We recommended that you also include the badge on your profile as a Certification.
STEP 1: Sign in to LinkedIn and start a post
Sign in to LinkedIn and click on ‘Start a post’ at the top of your newsfeed page.
STEP 2: Add the badge image to the post
In the ‘Create a post’ window, click on ‘Add photo’ and use the pop-up window to navigate to where you saved your badge image (see the first tutorial).
Click on the ‘Done’ button when you have located your downloaded badge image.
STEP 3: Share some information on the badge
You can include optional text with the badge in the form of a message. For example: “I just earned a new badge from The FAO elearning Academy. #FAOelearning”.
Make sure to also include the badge URL in the message for anyone that would like to verify your badge on the FAO elearning Academy.
STEP 4: Post your badge
Click ‘Post’ and view the badge on your news feed.
