Abstract

The Wigner function appeared to discuss the quantum correction of thermodynamic equilibrium, and it has become a tool for the analysis of quantum systems, especially the harmonic oscillator, which states describe the quantum field in a cavity. We discuss a matrix approach for the computation of the Wigner function. The numerical techniques here discussed are applied to obtain the time-dependent Wigner function of the field for the Jaynes-Cummings Model, which is widely known to describe the fundamental matter-field interactions in aperfect cavity.
