Abstract
The objective of the paper is to report on the parallelization of MSC/NASTRAN for distributed memory machines. The corresponding code, which is portable to a variety of HPC platforms, is being developed within the European ESPRIT III project Europort-1. The parallel code will be capable of linear statics and normal modes analysis. Parallel MSC/NASTRAN is based on a supermodule architecture which is well suited for parallel distributed memory computers. Sophisticated algorithms are used to exploit the potential parallelism. The parallel code is going to be tested with real-life examples provided by industrial endusers. At the end of the paper we present preliminary performance results and give some remarks on the lessons learnt during the parallelization.
