Abstract

We propose a resource reservation policy called Mobility-adaptive Bandwidth Reservation (MBR) scheme. The scheme performs admission control and is adaptive to changes in traffic caused by user mobility. It involves storing and analyzing information regarding the history of user crossover patterns to predict the future resource requirements. Each of the cell sites does resource prediction and admission control independently with zero traffic/signaling overhead which makes the MBR scheme fully distributed. We have carried out extensive simulation studies to investigate the performance of our scheme and the simulation results appear promising.
