Pupposites Attract Volume 2
Hono Natsuna’s Pupposites Attract volume 2 continues to be cute. (I reviewed volume 1 previously.)
The new character this volume intrigues me. Chako dresses very hip and modern, but her job is very traditional. She has a Shiba Inu that wears a cute kimono-like wrap, and she calls him Aniki, which means “big brother” but can also mean, in a way, “mentor”. She listens to his guidance, too, which is odd but needed. (As with the two main characters, her dog is not what one would assume someone of her nature would have, but they get along great.)
She also has an unexpected connection to Tsuji (owner of the Pomeranian, as seen on the cover), which brings all the cast together in coincidental but amusing fashion. There’s also a pet-friendly traditional inn with a dog run, which sends Tsuji into conniptions. He’d like to go with Kagura, and he knows their dogs would love it, but how do you ask someone you’re not dating to go on such a trip?
Plus, we get the backstory on how Tsuji adopted his little ball of fluff in the first place. It’s all very heartwarming and low-conflict and just what I enjoy reading — plus, adorable pets!
