About Yanqin “Carrie” Xu (徐燕勤)

I am the founder of ChinaX Sports & Media, a sports and media consulting firm that helps bridge the sports world between China and the U.S..

I grew up in Shanghai, China but have been living and working in the U.S. for the past 9 years. From 2011 to 2017 I worked for the Pac-12 Conference as Senior Manager, International, and helped promote the Pac-12 Conference and U.S. college sports to the China market. Before that I worked for Nike China and Nike International Basketball. This blog was a project out of my passion for sports and international cultural exchange and collaboration that I developed in my years as an MBA student at University of Southern California (USC).  I was also the Vice President at USC Marshall Sports Business Organization.

I have been deeply impressed by the fascination of sports in the U.S. during my time here, no matter it was watching the USC football games and March madness, volunteering at NBA All-Star weekend and IMG World Congress of Sports, listening to speeches given by legendary executives such as Peter Ueberroth or simply passing by the neighborhood recreation center seeing bunches of kids kicking balls there every weekend. I have been dreaming of bringing such level of sports participation, professionalism and business sophistication back to China. I am fortunate that on my current role I am doing what I am most passionate about, that is to bridge sports between the US and China. At the same time I have met and worked with many people in the U.S. and around the world who have a curiosity about the sports and business in China. If you are one of them, then this blog is exactly written for you and hopefully it will bring you some valuable information and/or fun of reading.

Currently, I am also developing a Weibo dedicated to ChinaSportsBiz.com, it will most probably be in English. I will let you know when this Weibo is officially launched.
