Plaque Gallery

The Plaque Gallery is sacred ground for baseball fans, where the bronze plaques of the Hall of Famers line the oak walls and visitors speak in hushed, reverential tones. The dramatic arched entryway and marble columns let you know you are somewhere special. Of the more than 22,000 men who have played Major League Baseball, just 1 percent have been enshrined in Cooperstown. Combine that with managers, umpires, executives (including Effa Manley, the first female Hall of Famer) and Negro Leagues players elected to the Hall, and you have the most exclusive club in sports. Take time in the iconic Plaque Gallery to explore the plaques of players you grew up idolizing, as well as those with whom you may not be familiar. Each plaque bears the inductee’s likeness and describes their accomplishments. It’s a great place to learn about the legends of our game. At the end of your Museum visit, the benches in the middle of the Plaque Gallery are the perfect place to sit and reflect on your love of the game, your favorite baseball memories and the sport’s incredible history.
