Like his father Jack Green senior, Jack Green junior gave exemplary service to Collingwood in more than 100 league games - 127 to be precise, from 1938 to 1941 and between 1943 and 1949. Equally capable of operating as a ruckman or a key position defender he was nineteenth man in the 1939 grand final, which the Magpies lost to Melbourne. After leaving Collingwood Greene joined the Warragul Football Club, as playing coach. His son, also called Jack Green, played league football for Collingwood in the 1960s.
