ASEM Day
To commemorate the 1st ASEM Summit (ASEM1) held on 1-2 March 1996 in Bangkok, Thailand. ASEM Day was initiated at the 11th ASEM Summit (ASEM11) in 2016 and has been observed annually since 1 March 2017.
“What is ASEM Day supposed to be? A celebration of blossoming Asia-Europe relations, or a reminder of the need for more engagement between Asia and Europe? Is it supposed to be a commemorative occasion or a call for action? We believe that ASEM Day is BOTH.”
