Digitized copy of the famous report of the United States War Refugee Board of 1944.Sometimes referred to as the "Auschwitz Protocols," the document brings together three distinct reports by escapees from the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp complex: Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler (the Vrba-Wetzler report), Arnost Rosin and Czesław Mordowicz (the Rosin-Mordowicz report), and Jerzy Tabeau (the "Polish Major's report").Combined by the WRB as "German Extermination Camps — Auschwitz and Birkenau" and released to the media in November of 1944, the reports collectively formed a cornerstone for later development of the "Auschwitz story" in postwar propaganda and Holocaust historiography. An essential document, the file is available online via the FDR Library digital archives (link below), but is very difficult to find there through routine searches. This re-up of public domain materials seeks to make this document more readily available to interested researchers.
