German Report Identifies Technical, Cost Problems in Efa Development

BONN There is a possibility that the European fighter aircraft will not meet its operational requirements on time and will exceed projected costs, according to a report prepared for the West German government budget committee. The report, by the German Federal Audit Office (FAO), lists potential technical risk areas that may limit the aircraft’s operational effectiveness in its first several years of deployment.

Soviet Cosmonauts on Mir Plan Eva to Repair Science Instrumentation

WASHINGTON Soviet cosmonauts on board Mir are preparing this week for a complex extravehicular activity to repair British/ Dutch science instrumentation on the outside of the station. The EVA will be similar in complexity to the repair performed by U. S. astronauts on the electronics of the Solar Maximum satellite during space shuttle Mission 11 in 1984.
