Had an unforgettable stay for one night. Our Japanese-style room with tatami mats, the garden, plus private hot spring tub was new-fashioned. - the hotel was in an unbeatable and magnificent location near popular attractions such as the monkey park and many sights that are easily walkable. - A cool bonus was nearby Cafe Ranzan, which offered tea and coffee.

Located right next to the scenic river, this hotel offers a prime location for exploring Arashiyama. The comfortable rooms provide a pleasant stay and the private baths offer a relaxing experience. The friendly and helpful staff ensure excellent service throughout your stay. Additionally, the delicious and beautifully decorated breakfast is a perfect start to the day.
The lack of cushioning on the tatami mats and flat pillows may make it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Arashiyama. The location was perfect, close to Main Street and the Bamboo Forest walk. The shuttle bus from the station was convenient. They provided our infant daughter with a cute Yukata to wear, which she looked gorgeous in. The staff were sweet and made us feel welcome. The private onsen with a view of Japanese maple trees was unforgettable. The traditional kaiseki feast was excellent. They looked after our luggage for a whole day. The hotel is like a slice of paradise, with easy walking access to attractions.
Would recommend this hotel.

The room with a private garden and hot mineral water tub was lovely. The location on the bank of the river facing the mountain was fabulous. The hosts were helpful with leaving my bags before check-in and arranging taxis. The beds were comfortable, and the onsen was a great amenity. The fully equipped kitchen and thoughtful amenities in the bath were a nice touch. The staff provided a free shuttle to the train station on check-out day and were attentive to our needs. The whole experience at Benkei was great from start to end. The food was authentic and impressive, and the staff put so much thought into every detail. The beautiful surroundings of Arashiyama were a bonus.
Felt like a home away from home, no reason to complain.

This hotel is a luxurious and tranquil retreat. the private onsen facility is amazing where I enjoyed a relaxing soak in an elegant open, air bath while listening to the sounds of nature. Their custom kaiseki dinner, served in, room, is exquisite and memorable. the service was impeccable with friendly and attentive staff.
Additionally, the location is perfect, right next to the Katsura river. Cons: the only issue was with the limited on, site onsen facilities, which were quite small compared to the size of the hotel.

Located at the end of the main strip in a serene area by the river with stunning views of the mountains, Arashiyama Benkei offers a peaceful stay away from the crowds. The rooms are traditional and pleasant, with some offering a private semi-outdoor onsen. The staff provides exceptional service, making guests feel welcome and attended to. The breakfast, served with a view of the river, is delicious and offers both Japanese and western options. The hotel is conveniently situated near the bamboo forest and mountain of the monkeys, allowing for easy exploration.
Some rooms have shared shower facilities instead of private ones.
