We employ an ensemble of forecasts to identify anomalous network traffic. Stream of observations, upon their arrival, are compared against these baseline forecasts and alerts generated only if the anomalies are sustained. The results confirm that our approach significantly reduces false alerts, triggering rather more accurate and meaningful alerts to a level that could be proactively consumed by a small team. We believe our methodology makes a useful contribution to the applications enabling proactive capacity management.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia210459","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,12,29]],"date-time":"2021-12-29T10:42:54Z","timestamp":1640774574000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Automated Contextual Anomaly Detection for Network Interface Bandwidth Utilisation: A Case Study in Network Capacity Management"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Esmaeil","family":"Zadeh","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Science, University of Bradford, UK"}]},{"given":"Stephen","family":"Amstutz","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Xalient Holdings Limited, UK"}]},{"given":"James","family":"Collins","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Xalient Holdings Limited, UK"}]},{"given":"Craig","family":"Ingham","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Xalient Holdings Limited, UK"}]},{"given":"Marian","family":"Gheorghe","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Science, University of Bradford, UK"}]},{"given":"Savas","family":"Konur","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Science, University of Bradford, UK"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Proceedings of CECNet 2021"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA210459","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2021,12,29]],"date-time":"2021-12-29T10:42:55Z","timestamp":1640774575000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA210459"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2021,12,22]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.3233\/faia210459","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2021,12,22]]}}}
