“Look at My works, how beautiful and praiseworthy they are! And all that I have created, it was for you that I created it. Pay attention that you do not corrupt and destroy My world: if you corrupt it, there is no one to repair it after you."
(Kohelet Rabbah 7:13)
The Green Team at Adat Shalom is a volunteer-led team focused on identifying and working to implement sustainable practices throughout Adat Shalom. The Green Team encourages our shul to look at environmentalism and sustainability through a Jewish lens.
The Green Team is Shomrei Adamah, “Guardians of the Earth,” and it is our responsibility to take care of the world around us, and to do Tikkun Olam, “repair the world."
The Green Team has already introduced some sustainability initiatives into our synagogue. Such as landscaping around the synagogue, installing a water bottle-friendly drinking fountain (and selling water bottles to raise funds for more drinking fountains), and joining the Adamah Climate Coalition Information
The Green Team is always open to new members who would like to have a part in making Adat Shalom a greener and more sustainable place. If you are interested in joining the Green Team, please reach out to Joyce Berlin Weingarten at jabw57@icloud.com. Green Team meetings typically occur on the third Monday of every month.
Thank you for purchasing a Green Team Tumbler. You will be contacted when your order is ready to be picked up at Adat Shalom.
