“Demon hunters... you dare attack the Doom Lord Azgoth in his own domain?”
The Doom Lord Azgoth was an annihilan who dwelled in a citadel on a Burning Legion-controlled world, inhabited by felguards and felbats.
At some point, Margrave Akarek and Baroness Draka of the House of Eyes traveled to Azgoth's planet and stole a set of maps from his stronghold.[1][Note 1]
Later, at a point when the Legion's occupation had turned the world's jungles into a dry wasteland, Illidan Stormrage led his Illidari demon hunters in an attack on Azgoth's citadel. During the ensuing battle, Azgoth managed to strike Illidan with his flail. As he was about to finish the demon hunter, Kor'vas Bloodthorn leaped forward and blocked the blow with her warglaive. In response, the annihilan pushed her up against a wall and growled that she smelled "more demon than hunter" and that she would serve the Legion well. Kor'vas simply replied "Never" as Illidan launched himself into the air and stabbed the pit lord in the back with the Twin Blades of Azzinoth. Much like Mannoroth had perished during the Third War, Azgoth instantly died and exploded in a burst of fel fire.[3]

If the world was located in the Twisting Nether or was extremely saturated with fel energy, Azgoth may have been killed for good.

Footnotes[]
- ^ Afterlives: Maldraxxus shows Akarek and Draka stealing a map from a demon citadel on an unspecified jungle world, but the scene reuses a shot of three felguards from Harbingers - Illidan. In an interview with Screen Rant, Steve Danuser stated that the reused shot is an intentional reference to Harbingers.[2] Patch 9.1 added the [Azgoth's Tattered Maps] item, whose flavor text states that it was "Obtained by The House of Eyes", ostensibly confirming that Azgoth's world and the world that Akarek and Draka visited are the same.
