In the 1871 census Thomas Chegwin (age 19) was the brother of Edith Chegwin in Bullers Row, Redruth, Cornwall, England.^[3]

Thomas Chegwin, a repairer, was one of 22 men killed in the New Australasian Gold Mine Disaster of December 1882.^[4]

Thomas, aged 31, had been born in Redruth, Cornwall, the son of William Chegwin and Mary Ann Penbertha. He was the husband of Eliza Ann McMillan.^[4]

Thos Chegwin arrived on the ship Sussex on 1 January 1872 in Melbourne, Australia having departed from Plymouth^[5]
