He married Dorothea Amelie von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck, daughter of August Philipp Herzog von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck and Marie Sibylla von Nassau-Saarbrücken, on 31 December 1686. He died on 27 November 1723 at age 63.
     He gained the title of Graf zur Lippe-Alverdissen.

     John Edward Poynder Grigg, 2nd Baron Altrincham was born on 15 April 1924.1 He was the son of Edward William MacLeay Grigg, 1st Baron Altrincham and Hon. Joan Alice Katherine Dickson-Poynder.1 He married Marian Patricia Campbell, daughter of Harold Ernest Campbell, on 3 December 1958.1 He died on 31 December 2001 at age 77.2
