Ayyappan is next in line of the Hindu gods to hit the animation movie scene. This seaon, national TV channels will air a 75-minute animation movie titled Swami Ayyappan.
DVDs of the movie will also be made available in the market. The movie, based on the story of Swami Ayyappan is being co-produced by Toonz Animation India and Animagic.
The film, directed by Mahesh Vettiyar and Chetan Sharma, follows the life of Manikandan, who is worshipped as Swami Ayyappan in Sabarimala.
“The film has the right mix of fantasy, adventure, mythology and history. More than being a film on mythological super hero, it is the message of religion, tolerance and secularism that this film highlights”, said P. Jayakumar, CEO, Toonz Academy.
“We enjoy telling story from our roots and the legend of Ayyappan is a fantastic opportunity to serve that purpose.We hope this film will become the definitive retelling of the story of Ayyapan for the small screen,” said Chetan Sharma, CEO, Animagic in a press release issued here on Tuesday.
