Natura &Co - statistics & facts
Natura &Co: acquisitions and divestitures
In 2012, Natura began the process of acquiring the Australian cosmetics brand Aesop, which was completed in 2016. The following year, in 2017, Natura acquired the British cosmetics brand The Body Shop, establishing Natura &Co. The Natura &Co group of companies further expanded in 2020, with the acquisition of the American beauty staple Avon, making it one of the largest beauty players globally. However, in early 2023, Natura &Co announced that L’Oréal, pillar of the French beauty industry, purchased Aesop for a sum of over 2.5 billion U.S. dollars. Shortly after, the divestiture of The Body Shop was made public as well.Leader of Brazil’s beauty and personal care market
In 2023, Natura &Co was by far the leading beauty manufacturer in Latin America in terms of revenue. Grupo Boticário, another Brazilian beauty staple, ranked second that year, further underlining Brazil’s importance in Latin America’s beauty and personal care market. Furthermore, in 2022, Natura and Avon were among the leading health and beauty brands in Latin America, comparing to multinational corporations such as Colgate Palmolive, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, and Nivea’s Beiersdorf AG.The Natura &Co group has experienced significant changes in 2023 with the divestitures of Aesop and The Body Shop. On the one hand, this may allow the Brazilian beauty group to focus on further growing Natura and Avon in the future. On the other hand, this could present an opportunity for Natura &Co’s competitors to further establish themselves in the Brazilian beauty and personal care market.
