Tourism in Alberta
Tourism is also a vital industry in Alberta, as is it home to six UNESCO World Heritage sights which include the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, Dinosaur Provincial Park, and Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. Other major tourist destinations include Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, and the Canada Olympic Park. Banff National Park, the first established Canadian national park, was the
leading national park in terms of visitors, followed by Jasper National Park. Both national parks are visited by tourists all year long, as in the Winter they are home to resorts such as Lake Louise and Marmot Basin, where tourists can go dog sledding, skiing, and snowboarding. Conversely, in the summer tourists congregate to areas such as Lake Minnewanka and Miette Hot Springs to do activities such as canoeing and hiking.
