Leading social media platforms in Lithuania
Facebook is the most popular social media platform in Lithuania, followed by YouTube and Instagram.
Nine out of ten individuals in the country use Facebook, according to a survey conducted in 2022. Instagram recorded a continuous increase in the number of Lithuanian users in recent years, and in February 2023,
it reached nearly one million, up 58 percent from three years prior. The fourth most popular social media platform in Lithuania is Pinterest. The
share of Pinterest in the social media traffic on desktop, mobile, and tablet devices is even higher than that of Instagram.
Lithuanian social media user demographics
In Lithuania,
women occupy a larger share of social media users, which amounted to over 54 percent as of January 2023. Moreover,
female users account for more than half of Meta Platforms' advertising audience, which combines Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger. Only in the age group from 25 to 34 years do men slightly outnumber women on the three platforms. In general, 25-to-34-year-olds represent the largest share of these networks' users, at almost 24 percent of those aged 13 years and older.
On Instagram, this share is even higher, exceeding 33 percent.
