In 2023, the total number of hospital beds in Thailand amounted to approximately 171,000. The number has fluctuated over the past years. 

Healthcare industry in Thailand
As the Thai government pushes the Thailand 4.0 policy, the healthcare industry is one of the most prioritized sectors in Thailand for further development, promotion, and investment. The health and social work sectors play a significant role in the prosperity of the Thai economy. Since 2011, the health and social work sectors' contribution to the country's GDP has been constantly increasing. In 2021, the expenditure of the health sector accounted for over five percent of the GDP in Thailand.

With rapidly increasing domestic and international demand for healthcare, Thailand has learned to improve and enhance its medical care and support to satisfy potential clients. In 2023, Thailand’s medical industry had more than 40,000 doctors all over the country. Furthermore, 60 percent of pharmaceutical products were supplied via public hospitals in Thailand and the rest were distributed through private hospitals and as over-the-counter medicine.
