In 2022, there were nearly 38 million homes led by women in Brazil, approximately three million more than a year earlier. In contrast, the number of households led by men decreased from 37.5 million in 2021 to 36.3 million in 2022. This opposite trend in the development of households whose head were women and men has been witnessed since 2015.
