Annual number of passengers carried by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines 2014-2022

In 2022, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines carried close to 26 million passenger. This was an 84 percent increase compared to 2021 when the Dutch airline transported roughly 14 million passengers. Passenger numbers had substantially decreased in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Revenue of Air France-KLM

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the national airline of the Netherlands. In 2014, Air France and KLM merged and became subsidiaries of the holding company Air France-KLM Group. In 2022, Air France-KLM had a revenue of just under 26.4 billion euros. This was an increase compared to the previous year, when the revenue amounted to 14.3 billion euros. From the total revenue of Air France-KLM Group, KLM generated approximately 10.7 billion euros. Compared to 2021, it is an increase of 4.6 billion euros.

Public opinion on purchase assets Air France-KLM

In 2019, the Dutch government purchased a 12.68 percent holding of Air France-KLM to obtain a position equally to the French State. Firstly, this was because the government want a direct influence on future developments of the Air France-KLM holding, in which the public interests can be assured. Secondly, the Dutch government was concerned that decisions about the KLM’s strategy were more made by the Paris-based holding company. According to a survey on the public opinion of the Dutch government’s decision to purchase the assets, 63 percent of the respondents were positive, whereas approximately 15 percent had a negative feeling.
