Number of Mount Fuji climbers in Japan 2010-2023
During the 2023 climbing season, around 221.3 thousand people climbed Mount Fuji in Japan. The figure increased significantly compared to the previous three seasons, reaching pre-COVID-19 values. Apart from the climbing season in summer, trails and huts are closed and climbing the volcano is prohibited during the rest of the year. The trails to Mt. Fuji were closed during the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
