The statistic shows the number of dispensed medicinal cannabis users in the Netherlands from 2007 to 2019. As of 2019, it was estimated that approximately 48,500 made use of dispensed medicinal cannabis. Back in 2007 the usage of medicinal cannabis was significantly lower, as roughly 4,500 made use of prescribed cannabis. Every year the number of users grew and the number of users rose with more than 20,000 between 2007 and 2015. However, since 2017, the number of medicinal cannabis users decreased in the Netherlands.
