This statistic shows the volume of slaughtered meat in France from 2008 to 2014, in thousand tons (carcass equivalent), by type. In 2014, 1.4 million tons of beef and veal were slaughtered in France. During the same period, more than two million tons of pig meat were produced, whereas the slaughtering volume of horse meat reached around five thousand tons. Over the period taken into consideration, the slaughtering of horse meat was at its highest in 2011.
