Corruption Perceptions Index in Italy 2012-2023

The Corruption Perceptions Index is based on a scale from zero to 100, where zero equals the highest level of perceived corruption, and 100 the lowest level of perceived corruption. In Italy, figures have regularly augmented from 2012 to 2020, before stabilizing at 56 points between 2021 and 2023. In fact, two thirds of Italians believe that bribery has increased in the country over the last three decades. Moreover, around 60 percent of the citizens stated that their compatriots would be likely to take a bribe or to corrupt someone else, if they had the chance to get rich. These results indicate that corruption represents a serious concern widespread in Italian society.
