Value of life and non-life insurance claims paid in Italy 2004-2023
Life insurance claims accounted for more than 80 percent of all insurance claims paid out in Italy in 2023. Insurance claims paid out in Italy peaked in 2011 before falling until 2016. By 2022, Italian insurance claims had almost returned to 2011 levels. In 2023, the value of claims paid amounted 136.8 billion euros, of which 113.6 billion euros belonged to the life insurance segment, being by far the highest number recorded since 2004.
