Share of U.S. firms offering health benefits (firm size 3-9 workers) 2000-2023
Since 2000 the share of firms with three to nine workers who offer health insurance benefits in the United States has fallen. From 57 percent of firms in 2000, by 2023 only 39 percent of very small firms offered health benefits to their employees. The lowest value prior to 2023 was seen in 2017, when only 40 percent of very small firms stated they offered health benefits.
