As of 2023, 11.5 million tons of carbon dioxide were emitted from natural gas flaring in Nigeria. Although this slightly increased compared to 2022, it represented a substantial drop from the other years observed. In 2013, the volume of emissions stood at close to 19 million tons of CO2.
