Visa, Mastercard, Amex transaction value in six countries in Latin America in 2022

Visa was processed the most in Mexico, whereas Mastercard recorded its highest transaction value in Brazil when looking exclusively inside Latin America. This is according to estimations calculated by Statista from numbers that first tried to establish the market size of domestic POS and online markets, and that were then used to calculate the market share of specific payment methods and brands. For this statistic, the focus is exclusively on the three major card brands - Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Notable for Latin America is the relatively high use of Visa in Mexico, Argentina, and Peru - with processed volume reaching over 30 percent of all payments in those countries, be they cash or digital. Mastercard is used relatively often in Brazil and Colombia.
