The amount of Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital in the banking industry in Luxembourg increased overall between 2016 and 2023, despite slight fluctuations. In the first quarter of 2016, the CET1 capital reached its highest value by exceeding 80 billion euros. Although it declined after the first quarter of 2016, it consistently remained above the levels observed between 2014 and 2015, never dropping below 47 billion euros during this period. As of the fourth quarter of 2023, it amounted to 51.88 billion euros, which was a slight increase when compared to the previous quarter.
