Following a referendum in April 2023, Paris banned shared e-scooters from its streets from September of the same year.
As of September 2022, there had been around 15,000 shared e-scooters available for hire on Paris's streets alongside around 12,000 dockless bikes. As e-scooters were removed in September 2023, operators made more bicycles available for their customers. While the additional number of bikes did not completely compensate for the removal of e-scooters, the dockless fleet size grew from 12,000 in September 2022 to 18,000 one year later.
