The Netherlands spent 12.3 billion Euros on its military in 2021, an amount worth an equivalent of 1.4 percent of Dutch GDP. While this total amount represents one of the largest military budgets in the EU, it still fell far short of the two percent of GDP target for annual military spending set for it by NATO.
