In 2023, more than 139 thousand Indians proceeded to Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. This was a significant increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, until 1994 Hajj pilgrims travelled by ship and air. Later, air was the dominant means of transport for Indian Hajj pilgrims.
