Glovo, which was acquired by German food delivery giant Delivery Hero in 2022, is facing a critical situation due to the implementation of Spain's 'Rider Law' (known as Ley Rider in Spanish). This law sets forth regulations on the working conditions for delivery drivers employed by digital home delivery platforms. Operating across 25 countries and employing approximately 19,000 individuals, Glovo had incurred fines totaling 205.3 million euros as of January 2024 for non-compliance with the 'Rider Law'. The company has allocated a total provision of 400 million euros for these penalties, reflecting the irregular employment status of 37,348 workers. Additionally, in February 2024, Glovo was fined 550,000 euros for the abusive use of personal data belonging to delivery drivers using the platform.
