In the reporting month of January 2024, the producer price index for industrial products was converted to the new base year 2021, with all values from January 2021 being recalculated. This resulted in differences between the old rates of change (base year 2015) and the new rates of change. According to Destatis, the main reason for the difference is the changed weighting proportions within the energy sector in the new weighting scheme.
