In 2023, the total consumption of natural gas in Spain surpassed 323 terawatt-hours. That year, Catalonia was the autonomous community with the highest natural gas consumption across the country, at over 57 terawatt-hours. This represented roughly 18 percent of Spain's total consumption. Andalusia ranked second, with a consumption of some 50 terawatt-hours. By contrast, the Canary Islands only consumed 22 gigawatt-hours of natural gas in 2023.
