According to a survey conducted among United States gamers in June 2021, 42 percent of respondents said they expected in-game product placement to be relevant to the game being played. In-game product placement was expected to be relevant to gamers themselves by 30 percent of respondents, while 29 percent said they disagreed with the assumption that the usage of fake brands in video games would be favored over that of real ones.
