There were over 7,300 individual wildfires in California in 2023, making it the U.S. state seeing the highest number of wildfires that year. This resulted in nearly 333,000 acres burned due to wildfires in the southern state. Texas ranked second, recording a total of 7,102 wildfires throughout 2023.
