French women victims of domestic violence during lockdown 2020, by number of children
During the first period of lockdown in France (March 17 to May 11, 2020), circumstances favored the increase of domestic violence. When interviewed, approximately nine percent of women in France claimed to be the victim of domestic abuse during lockdown in 2020; for women with children, this figure rose to 12 percent. Women with three or more children were most affected by this violence: the proportion of victims among women with no children was seven percent, compared to 15 percent among women with at least three children.
