Breakdown of sports and sportswear purchases in France 2020, by channel
Online shopping has increased significantly in recent years in the sports and sportswear sector. In fact, in 2018, only 15.7 percent of sportswear purchases were made online, compared to around 23.3 percent two years later. Furthermore, there was a spike in growth between 2019 and 2020, during which time the share of online shopping increased by almost six points. This can be partly explained by physical distance measures, and in general, online retail is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
