According to a survey conducted in Japan in 2024, 18.7 percent of mobile device users read paid e-books. The share of respondents who stated that they only read free e-books amounted to 28.8 percent. The annually conducted survey showed that the share for both groups increased by several percentage points compared to the mid-2010s.
