In December 2020, the value of RTGS (real-time gross settlement) transfer payments in Nigeria amounted to over 43 trillion Naira (roughly 114 billion U.S. dollars). Between January and December 2020, the value of real-time gross settlement transfers decreased, going from roughly 50 trillion Naira to 43 trillion Naira. RTGS are instantaneous transfers of money on an individual order basis.
