Number of natural parks in Latin American countries 2023
As of August 2023, there were 493 national parks in Latin America. Brazil registered the largest number up until that month, with 118 national parks. Mexico followed with 85, while Chile and Costa Rica recorded 36 and 35 national parks, respectively. At that time, Mexico and Brazil were the countries with the largest number of zoos and aquariums in the Latin American region.
