Odds ratios for the risk of death involving Coronavirus compared with white ethnicity (COVID-19) in England and Wales from March 2, 2020 to April 2, 2020, by ethnicity and gender
The source adds the following information: An odds ratio (OR) is a measure of association between a characteristic (ethnicity for example) and an outcome (death from COVID-19 for example).
It represents the odds that an outcome will occur given a characteristic or set of characteristics, compared to the odds of the outcome occurring in the absence of those characteristics.
Odds ratios can be treated as a percentage increase or decrease in risk of the outcome under investigation. An odds ratio in excess of 1 indicates raised risk while an odds ratio less than 1 indicates reduced risk compared with the reference population
