In the third quarter of this year, 992,000 persons were employed and 46,000 were unemployed. Compared to the previous quarter, the employment rate decreased and the unemployment rate increased.

More confidence in retail trade and construction
In retail trade and construction confidence improved, while in services and manufacturing it was at the same monthly level. Manufacturing enterprises invest the most in the replacement of worn-out buildings or equipment, and were encouraged to do so by technical factors and demand.

Arrivals of foreign tourists up by 15% over October last year
In October, accommodation establishments reported almost 472,000 tourist arrivals and 1.1 million overnight stays. Compared to last year, there were 12% more arrivals and 8% more overnight stays.

Compared to the same month last year, both electricity production and energy supply increased in October 2024.

Organic utilised agricultural area almost a tenth larger than a year ago
Organic utilised agricultural area in 2023 was 46,195 hectares, 10% more than the year before. Additional 8,408 hectares were in the process of conversion to organic. Together around 11% of all utilised agricultural area was cultivated organically (with certificate and in the process of conversion).

Average earnings slightly lower than earnings for August
Compared to earnings for August, average gross and net earnings for September were lower in nominal and in real terms by 0.5%.

In November, the consumer confidence indicator deteriorated at the monthly level by 1 percentage point, but improved at the annual level by the same degree.

In 2022, 86% of passenger-kilometres (pkm) in Slovenia were performed by passenger cars, 12% by buses and 2% by passenger trains. A third of all tonne-kilometres (tkm) were performed by freight trains.

Compared to September, 15% fewer building permits were issued and their floor area was 37% smaller. 46% fewer dwellings were planned.
