Biography

  • Though Emblem3 crystalized as a group in Los Angeles, California, US, their beginnings can be tracked back to Sequim, Washington, the town where each member of the breezy pop rock trio is originally from.

The group emerged on the scene in 2012 as a 3 piece comprised of brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg and their friend Drew Chadwick. Wesley and Drew started recording material together when they were just in middle school. Keaton was 9 years old at the time and had no involvement with this proto-formation; however, this did not exclude him from making his own music.

Wesley eventually moved off to Huntington Beach, California and Drew’s High School years were primarily spent traveling up and down the west coast. He eventually caught up with Wesley in Huntington Beach and Keaton latter connected with the two after enrolling in an art school around the area.

The initial formation recorded their first demo album “Bite your Lip and Take It” in their basement and released it as the American Scholars (this was one of many of the band’s monikers before sticking with Emblem3). The group gigged around Sunset Strip in support of this release, but did not gain popularity until their appearance on the TV series The X Factor. The group landed an audition on the show in 2012 and made their introduction performing song written by Chadwick called “Sunset Blvd”. The trio wooed the judges with covers of the Goo Goo Dolls “Iris” and the sensational Police hit “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”.

Emblem3 were subsequently chosen as contestants for the show and eventually placed 4th overall in the competition, earning a strong fan base. The band played covers by a wide assortment of artists encompassing boy band’s new and old such as the Temptations, the Monkeys, and One Direction, classic rock artists like Peter Frampton and the Beatles, pop divas including Katy Perry and Alicia Key, and soul oriented stars like Bruno Mars and Matisyahu.

Soaring from the hype of the show the group released their official debut album “Nothing to Lose” on 30 July 2013, featuring their hit singles “Chloe (You’re the One I Want)” and “3000 Miles”. The band hit the road hard touring in support for this album, taking the stage on the “Goin’ Back to Cali Tour” and also the Selena Gomez’s “Stars Dance Tour” acting as the opening band.

In 2014 the group independently released their EP “Songs from the Couch, Vol. 1” and also lost band member, Drew Chadwick due to his aspiration to pursue a solo career. The Stromberg brothers are continuing to make music on their own. After all they have been steeped in the entertainment industry since early childhood (their father is the Grammy-nominated composer William Stromberg and their uncle is the Academy Award-winning director Robert Stromberg).

Live reviews

  • Who knew that Emblem3 are actually pretty good musicians?! I certainly didn’t. The X Factor U.S.A graduates may be unaware that they are in fact pretty good musicians themselves. It is interesting this evening to hear such a stripped back performance from them, complete with an acoustic guitar a bass guitar and a djembe. They really do have all the components that they need to make a good performance. XO kicks off their performance, the harmonies are tight, (there’s nothing quite like sibling harmonies, (usually because they’re siblings and spend more time together to get it right)).

The hordes and hordes of teenage girls that have queued up for hours to see this band is difficult to wrap your brain around, but hey, this band have some die hard fans who would wait all night for a spot at the front of this audience. There are moments when the audience is so loud; they block out the sound of the band themselves, which is a shame, but Emblem3 ride the wave and just perform to the best standard that they can. I think that the loudest moment was when they performed their hit song “Chloe”, their debut single following the X Factor, and it is by this point that the audience have definitely out sung this in-house system, again, Emblem3 take it in their stride and are thankful at the end of their set.

  • I've been to many concerts, but Emblem3 was by far the best. The openers, Megan Nicole and The Ready Set, we're just amazing. They both really got the crowd super pumped for Emblem3 to come out. When E3 finally did come out, they were so energetic. There were some technical difficulties throughout the concert, but the boys just played through it and went acoustic for a few songs. They interacted with the fans including Drew leaning over to get a necklace a fan was handing to him, Wes put on a pair of sunglasses that a fan have to him, and Keaton hopped off stage to high five some fans. Wes even signed a t-shirt while he was singing. After the show was over and the curtains closed, Wes came back out and autographed some things and gave a fan her hat back after she tossed it on the stage. Emblem3 really is the best. They're the only people I've ever seen interact with fans that much. I cannot wait for them to come back again, so I can see them. I would recommend this concert to anybody who asked.

As it was my first time meeting them, they made me feel like I had known them my whole life, which was so welcoming! They're so inspiring and positive role models for me and I can't wait for the next show, I'll surely be going again, without a doubt E3 is my favorite band
