3 Doors Down is an American rock band from Mississippi, USA. They formed almost a decade ago, in 1996. Their music style is a combination of hard and alternative rock with elements of post-grunge.
Throughout their time, the band has reconfigured its members drastically. 3 Doors Down originally consisted of Brad Arnold on vocals and drums, Todd Harrell on bass (later replaced by Justin Biltonen) and Matt Roberts on guitar (later replaced by Chet Roberts). They were later joined by guitarist Chris Henderson, and then by drummer Richard Liles, who played for the band during their tour of their first album. From 2002–2005, Daniel Adair replaced him on drums. In turn, he was later replaced by Greg Upchurch. Together, they have played over 1000 shows worldwide and were signed to Universal Records in 2000.
The band have enjoyed international fame since their formation. They have played with artists such as Nickelback, Daughtry and Megadeth, sharing the stage with these big names. Their album sales to date are roughly 20 million worldwide. Their debut album, ‘The Better Life’ garnered a large fan response, selling an impressive six million copies, and led to a number of hits for the band. 3 Doors Down are best known for producing the smash hit, ‘Here Without You’ as well as hits ‘Let Me Go’, ‘Kryptonite’, which was really responsible for the band achieving international fame, and ‘When I’m Gone’.
Artists that have been compared to the band include Nickelback, Lighthouse and 12 Stones. Many of their songs are considered rock classics for their authentic rock feel.
3 Doors Down are also notable for their generous charity work: they started The Better Life Foundation (TBLF) in 2003, hoping to give as many children as possible a better life. Since its formation, TBLF has supported numerous charities nationwide, as well as providing aid and assistance to the Gulf Coast region of Mississippi (their home state) after it was hit by the catastrophic hurricane Katrina.
Read moreI had never listened to 3 Doors Down before they came to play a show in my town back in 2005, but was invited to go with one of my friends to their concert. I really wanted to be prepared for the show so I went and bought their CDs (a very early 2005 thing to do!). I would never have guessed that this band would have me humming along to such soulful music. 3 Doors Down is one of those bands that comes along once every generation that gives meaning to music. With songs such as "Kryptonite", "Away From the Sun", and "Here Without You", 3 Doors Down reshapes the meaning of a love ballad.
Of course with such awe inspiring songs, their concert was easily one of my favorites that I have been to. Of course lighting and other stage flair added to the show, it was the band itself that kept people pumped up from song to song. I don't recall one person sitting down after they took the stage. 3 Doors Down has changed music for the better, giving people more than a catchy tune for the radio, but a song that will resonate with them for the rest of their lives.
3 Doors Down are something of an enigma to the world of hard rock as they have a characteristically melodic approach to their sound. This does not mean there is any less emphasis on the thumping drum beats or screeching guitar when the band performs live.
They have been consistently recording albums since the mid-90s so the setlist is always varied and keeps the fans intrigued as to what the band will play tonight. All that is assured is that they promise to do it in an anthemic and passionate manner. Something of a cult phenomena on the UK circuit, they have amassed a loyal following for their music and enjoy a rapturous reception at the sight of their appearance.
They continue to delight crowds by playing some of the modern classics such as 'Here Without You' and 'Kryptonite' whilst their first appearance on the chart 'Time of My Life' all receive huge cheers. The band is clearly moved by the fan's constant singing, cheering and applauding and really give their all in return to which the fans are of course momentously grateful.
Seeing 3 Doors Down in concert after a long time of hoping and wishing one day to finally see them was absolutely amazing. I have wanted to see them in concert since their first debut of Kryptonite came out back when I was just 14. I am now 32. That's a long time of waiting to see them. To actually get to see them up close and personal at the Charity benefit at the Harrah's Cherokee casino Resort made it all the world better. I actually cried during one of their first songs they sang bc I was just so excited to be there with the thought that I may not have ever got that chance again. I absolutely love ever song they have ever done and I am amazed by what they continue to do with the outreach of helping others in the community no matter the needs. They are such a caring, genuine and a loving band and you don't see that very often. I would love to see them again one day in hopes of maybe getting to meet them in person and get their autographs. I had a blast at their concert and would LOVE to see them again some day.
Although not a hard core fan of 3 Doors Down, I loved their songs ‘Here Without You’ and ‘Absolutely (Story of a Girl)’ and so was undeniably excited to see them perform live. What I was not expecting was the amount of excitement and energy the band would bring on stage. Each member is an incredibly talented musician in his own right and the band’s music incorporated a lot more rock than I had anticipated, which created a generally high energy atmosphere that was almost borderline grunge. The drummer particularly stood out for me, and had a few brilliant solos. AS well as their more rocky tunes, the band had a lot of soulful love ballads and the lead singer was incredible at conveying real depth and emotion in to his vocals. ‘Here Without You’ was the most beautiful moment of the entire show and the whole crowd was swaying and listening appreciatively throughout. ‘Kryptonite’ also received a great audience reaction as the crowd sang along wildly to the favourite.
I was surprised 3 Doors Down was the headliner at this concert but absolutely thrilled they were last to play their set list. I enjoyed all the visual effects of the stage's background. Pretty kewl. I didn't hear the lead singer Brad at the beginning of the jam Duck and Run but the microphone was quickly fixed. Listening to their new songs and songs from years past put me in a nostalgic mood. Collective Soul jammed their awesome tunes as well as Soul Asylum.
I enjoyed the outdoor setting at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill however I was uncomfortable most of the show burning up from the humidity. Maybe handing out spray bottles of water to mist yourself or having water fountains to cool off could do the trick.
I saw 3 Doors Down (Acoustic Back Porch Jam) in January 2018 in Santa Rosa, CA.
This was the first time I had seen them.
I sat second row in the middle. There is something very special about hearing two hard core rock guitarists playing acoustic. They sounded spectacular and the crowd was VERY into it. I had a great time.
Brad has the PERFECT hard rock voice.
Highly recommended!

First I want to say that The Bomb Factory, the venue where the show was is fantastic. Huge place, never felt crowded by people even though it was packed, there are no obstructed views (unless you're 5'1"!) from any seat or GA spot.
Seether played first and they were great. First time seeing them live but long time fan. 3 Doors Down were AWESOME! The sound was out of this world greatness!
Amazing... started out on fire and they kept the blaze burning til the end. Crowd loved them and all the band members were so full of energy! They sound just like their songs on th radio!!AMAZING So glad they kicked off their Rock and Roll Express Tour in ATL... worth every penny!!!!
I will see them again for sure. THEY ROCKED CHASTAIN!!!
The concert was amazing. The venue was historical, the staff was extremely friendly, and the bands were on point. They played ALL of their fan favorites and some gems that the average fan wouldn't know. The VIP was the best I've attended. Totally a show you must see.
It was great! Waiting outside was okay too because we didn't wait for more than 20 minutes. Once we got inside, everyone was super friendly and helpful. I got a shirt for $40. The Falling was amazing and 3DD's performance was fantastic! I would definitely go again!
